New Cost-Reduction Plan with Feed Additive Bile Acids

In modern intensive farming systems, fats are typically added to feed to ensure energy supply. However, overuse of high-fat diets can deplete endogenous emulsifiers in animals, affecting fat digestion, leading to liver and intestinal health issues, and significant feed waste. Enhancing fat utilization in feed and optimizing feed conversion efficiency is crucial for livestock.

Lachance Group identified the biochemical properties of bile acids that aid in fat digestion and absorption, and decisively invested in bile acid research and production. Verified results show that Lachance Group bile acids effectively promote the digestion and absorption of feed energy and maintain animal liver and intestinal health. This improves production efficiency and reduces feeding costs.

In 2010, Lachance bile acids received project support from the Ministry of Agriculture, and in 2014, they were awarded the New Feed and Feed Additives Product Certificate from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This not only affirmed the safety of bile acids in livestock applications but also validated their effectiveness in practice.

Since receiving certification for bile acid feed additives in 2014, Lachance Group has continuously advanced bile acid research. Following the principle of  one meter wide, ten thousand meters deep, they have expanded the application of bile acids across various species, from broilers and carnivorous freshwater fish to weaned piglets and ruminants. The company aims to provide more efficient and cost-effective solutions to their customers.

Lachance Group has established close scientific collaborations with multiple domestic and international research institutions, pushing forward research on bile acids in livestock. To date, they have published over 30 SCI papers, offering a solid scientific basis for the further study and application of bile acids.

To meet growing market demand, Lachance Group invested 230 million yuan in a new bile acid production facility, creating a top-tier full-cycle bile acid product industry chain. The improvement of product and service quality begins with raising standards. For bile acid feed additives, ensuring quality relies on the establishment of higher standards.

Market research shows that while other companies with bile acid production licenses follow Ministry of Agriculture standards for new feed additives, differences in raw materials and processes often compromise product safety and quality. This poses a significant risk to the safety of animal-derived food products.

Without a unified national standard, controlling the quality and safety of bile acid feed additives remains challenging, which could affect both domestic animal production and China’s international reputation. Therefore, the bile acid industry urgently needs a national standard to regulate market order, enhance product quality, and boost competitiveness.

In response, Lachance Group, under the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, collaborated with China Agricultural University and Tongwei Co., Ltd. to initiate the drafting of a mandatory national standard, Feed Additives Part 13: Other Bile Acids, in September 2023.
