Lachance Nutrition | Bile Acids Reduce Feed Cost of Laying Hens

Author:Lachance Time:2024-07-26 Hits:

As a feed additive, bile acid has been widely used in livestock and poultry feed.

  1. Bile acid can improve the digestibility and utilization rate of feed, give full play to the value of feed, and promote digestion and absorption of oil and protein ingredients in the feed.

  2. Bile acid can stabilize feed quality, reduce the damage to livestock and poultry liver and intestine caused by anti-nutritional factors and toxins contained in feed ingredients, ensure the halt of animals and maintain production efficiency.

  3. Bile acids can protect the intestinal-liver axis and improve the intestinal environment, maintain the balance of microflora and enhance the resistance of animals to stress factors.

  4. Bile acids can improve the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K and pigments in the feed, especially in laying hen feed, bile acids can help to improve egg quality.

  5. Bile acid can also be used as a regulatory factor, participating in various metabolisms, comprehensively regulating the internal environment of the body, promoting animal health and improving productivity.

Application case of adding bile acid to laying hen feed to reduce feed cost

The test was carried out in a farm in Shandong.

Two Hy-Line brown laying hen houses with similar production performance were selected. One house had 48,390 chickens as the control group, and the second house had 49,268 chickens as the experimental group. Laying hens in the control group fed basal diet.

The metabolizable energy of the diet for experimental group reduced by 20kcal/kg on the basis of the basal diet, the crude protein was reduced by 0.2%, and 200g/t of bile acid was added to the feed. After adjusting the formula, the feed cost was reduced by 13.79 yuan (see Table 1 for formula adjustment). The trial period was 12 weeks (from 43 to 54 weeks).

Feeding management and statistics

From the test results in Table 2, it can be seen that reducing 20kcal/kg energy and reducing 0.2% crude protein in the feed and adding 200g/t bile acid in the feed, the laying hen's egg production rate, feed intake, egg weight, feed-to-egg ratio, the percentage of broken eggs and mortality had no effect.

Conclusion

To sum up, it can be seen from the above test results that reducing the energy and crude protein content in the feed appropriately, and adding bile acids at the same time can improve the quality of the feed and save the cost of feed formulations.
